In den Frühling starten wir mit weiteren Gerichtsurteilen und viel Sichtbarkeit.
Was sich bei der Genderklage tut
Nach dem bedeutsamen Urteil zum Geschlechtseintrag “nicht-binär” geht es mit positiven Entscheidungen weiter.
Im Februar wurde für eine Person der Eintrag “divers” vom Verwaltungsgericht Wien rechtlich anerkannt. Aus dem Urteil geht hervor, dass eine Selbstbeschreibung ausreiche und psychiatrische Gutachten nicht erforderlich wären. Wir wissen bereits, dass das Innenministerium dagegen in Revision gehen wird. Genauso wie auch zu dem Urteil zum Eintrag “nicht-binär”.
Außerdem wurde im März für zwei Kläger*innen positiv vom Verwaltungsgericht Wien entschieden. Beide stellten einen Antrag auf die Streichung ihres Geschlechtseintrag. Darunter auch die original Genderklage.

Bundesländerkongress 2023
Vom 10. bis 12. März wurde der LGBTIQ+ Bundesländerkongress in Wien veranstaltet. Auch einige Venib-Mitglieder waren dabei um den Vorträgen zu lauschen und mit weiteren österreichischen Vereinen und Gruppen zu diskutieren.
Die HOSI Wien, die den Kongress organisierte, rief uns auf, gemeinsam in den Dialog zu gehen, um den Diskriminierungsschutz zu erweitern.
Visible! Weekend of Trans Joy
Am vergangenen Wochenende fanden verschiedene Veranstaltungen zum Trans Day of Visibility statt. Im Mittelpunkt standen trans, inter* und nicht-binäre Personen.
Auftakt am Freitag war die Eröffnung der Kunstausstellung. Gezeigt werden Acrylgemälde und Druckgrafiken sowie Comicstrip und Tattoo-design von tin* Kunstschaffenden. Das Open Mic bot Bühne für sanfte und energische Stimmen, neue und wiederverwendete Texte, peinliche Geschichten und traurige Gedichte.
Weiter ging es am Samstag mit einer Filmvorführung von Mulan mit anschließender Diskussionsrunde. Am Sonntag konnten Kunstschaffende ihre Arbeiten präsentieren und verkaufen und Vereine und Kollektive sich vorstellen. Natürlich war Venib mit einem Stand dabei. Außerdem gab es ein Binder Try-On und leckeres veganes Essen. Beglückt wurden wir das Wochenende über mit ganz viel queerer Musik.
Ein riesengroßes Danke gebührt allen Mitwirkenden, speziell Georgmaria Prock, Denise von der Villa Vida, Em von khoas.events für die Technik und Skye für die Grafiken und Fotos. Uns freut es auch unheimlich, was für ein reges Interesse es an den Events gab. Die Kunstwerke sind noch bis zum 21. April in der Villa Vida zu sehen. An dem Tag gibt es ab 19 Uhr die Finissage mit anschließender Party mit live Musik.

Mitglied beim Klagsverband
Venib ist Mitgliedsorganisation des Klagsverband (www.klagsverband.at) geworden. Der Dachverband von über 60 NGOs erlaubt den Austausch über Antidiskriminierung und Gleichstellung untereinander. Außerdem unterstützt er bei einzelnen Musterverfahren vor Gericht.
Unterstütze die Villa Vida und Drag Queen Story Time
Am 16.4. gibt es wieder eine Buchlesung von Drag Queens für Kinder in der Türkis Rosa Lila Villa. Erneut rufen rechtsextreme Gruppen hierfür zu Störaktionen und einer Kundgebung bei der Villa auf. Zeigt eure Solidarität, auch vor Ort rund um die Veranstaltung. Wir lassen uns von rechter Hetze gegen die Drag und trans Community nicht unterkriegen!

The spring begins with more court decisions and a lot of visibility.
What is happening at Genderklage
After the significant verdict about the gender marker “nicht-binär” (= non-binary), more positive decisions were made.
In February the entry “divers” (= diverse) was legally recognised for a person by the Vienna Administrative Court (Verwaltungsgericht Wien). The verdict states that self-description is enough and a psychiatric report would not be necessary. We already know that the Ministry of Interior will appeal against this decision. Same applies to the verdict about the entry “non-binary”.
Additionally two plaintiffs got a positive verdict from the Vienna Administrative Court. Both filed a motion to have their gender marker removed. Among them the original Genderklage.

Bundesländer Kongress 2023
From 10th to 12th of March was the austria-wide LGBTIQ+ congress in Vienna. Also some Venib members joined to listen to presentations and to discuss among other austrian organisations and groups.
The HOSI Wien, which organised the congress, invited us to enter into dialogue with each other in order to expand the legal protection against discrimination.
Visible! Weekend of Trans Joy
Last weekend at the Villa Vida Cafe multiple events took place as part of the trans day of visibility. The focus was on trans, inter* and non-binary people.
It began on Friday with the opening of the art exhibition. Prints and acrylic paintings as well as comic strip and tattoo designs by tin* artists are on display. The open mic event offered a stage for soft and energetic voices, new and reused texts, awkward stories and sad poems.
It continued on Saturday with the film screening of Mulan, following a discussion. On Sunday artists could present and sell their work and organisations and groups could introduce themselves. Of course Venib had a booth too. Additionally there was a binder try-on and yummy vegan food. Queer music was playing live or recorded throughout the weekend.
A huge thanks goes out to all participants, especially Georgmaria Prock, Denise from Villa Vida, Em from khaos.events for the sound and Skye for the graphics and photos. We are extremely happy there was so much interest for the events. The artworks can still be viewed till 21st of April at the Villa Vida. On that day at 7pm the finissage with party with live music afterwards will partake.

Member of the Klagsverband (=Litigation Association)
Venib became one of the member organisations of the Klagsverband (www.klagsverband.at). The umbrella organisation of over 60 NGOs allows exchange about antidiscrimination and equality among each others.
Additionally they support a few model cases at court.
Support the Villa Vida and Drag Queen Story Time
On the 16th of April a book reading for children by Drag Queens will take place at the Türkis Rosa Lila Villa. Once again far-right groups are calling for disruptive actions and a rally at the Villa.
Show your support, also on-site at the event. We don’t let far-right baiting against the drag and trans community get us down!
